"How many thousands have been carried to heaven instrumentally upon
the wings of these tracts, none can tell ..." — Charles Spurgeon
Did you know Halloween is one of the biggest evangelistic events of the
year?! Every year, tens of thousands of committed Christians deliver millions
of Gospel tracts to the children who come to their homes.
Some Christians shun Halloween as "the Devil's night," and turn
their porch lights off to discourage trick-r-treaters. Why not decide to
use this unique opportunity to share Christ and turn your porch light on
this Halloween!
Using Halloween tracts is easy! Just drop a tract along with candy in each
trick-r-treater's bag. And, more than just that one child, your tract has
the potential to share Christ with an entire family!
If your church is planning a party as an alternative to Halloween, why
not use tracts to help share Jesus? Kids and their families can read the
tracts at home. Most tracts have a place on the back for your church to
include its contact information so visitors can reach you with questions
about the Gospel.
For our Halloween visitors, we prepare baggies in advance with candy and
tracts for different age groups, making it quick and easy to share Jesus
with everyone who knocks on our door. And, by turning our porch light on,
we are providing a safe environment for kids who want to enjoy Halloween,
but who may not attend Harvest Festivals and other alternative parties
given by churches.
Why We Encourage Tract Evangelism
It is the very purpose of The Gospel Report to inform our readers about
sound, proven ministries and evangelism projects.
Gospel tracts are proven evangelistic tools, they are easily carried in
a pocket or a purse, and they are inexpensive.
Tracts with Biblically-sound Gospel messages allow you to quickly and inoffensively
share God's Word with anyone. If you are comfortable, tracts can be used
as an ice breaker to present a more detailed presentation of the Gospel
... or you can hand out tracts in passing, and the recipient can read the
message later.
You can make a difference!
Here's an idea: You can decorate your house festively to attract trick-r-treaters
without going overboard with Halloween images you may not be comfortable
with. A brightly lit porch and yard make it inviting to visitors. Big,
nicely decorated pumpkins are always popular attractions. And, make those
treat bags good ones! Children remember the decorations and houses that
gave the good stuff, and they will be more likely to return next year -
along with friends - providing you yet more opportunities to share Christ.
The most important aspect of using tracts is to be sure the message is
Biblically sound. Does it open up with the Law (Ten Commandments) and warn of judgment day
and hell? Does it preach the cross, the resurrection, repentance and faith?
Is Jesus presented as the answer to life's problems (the popular "happy
gospel") or as the Savior from sin (true, Biblical Gospel)? A tract
with a Biblically sound message does not guarantee that every tract from
the same source is also sound. Be discerning and examine every tract prayerfully before using them!
So, how about it friend? Will one of the biggest evangelistic opportunities
of the year come to your door, or pass you by? Don't worry about the origins
of the event, just seize the opportunity, by faith, and plant the seed
of the Gospel in young hearts this Halloween!
Turn your porch light on and give a real treat ... a Gospel tract!
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for
salvation to everyone who believes ..." (Romans 1:16, NASB)

Daily Scripture
How to tell if a tract has a sound biblical presentation:
Do they open up with the Law, and warn of Judgment Day and Hell?
Do they preach the cross, the resurrection, repentance, and faith?
Is Jesus presented as the answer to life's problems or as the Savior from
sin?
"There is a real service of Christ in the distribution of the gospel
in its printed form, a service the result of which heaven alone shall disclose,
and the judgment day alone discover. How many thousands have been carried
to heaven instrumentally upon the wings of these tracts, none can tell
..."
